Part 1: Learn To Indigo Dye Fabric

Dyeing with plants is like magic!

In this course, we'll go through setting up your own indigo dye vat at home, and how to use it to create unique fabrics. We'll talk about which fabrics work best for natural dyes, and how to prepare your fabric. We're also going to cover some basic dyeing techniques, shibori techniques, and modifiers.

By the end of this module, you'll have everything you need to create your own unique indigo-dyed fabrics - which are the perfect base for the zero-waste Xanthea t-shirt!

Part 2: The Xanthea T-shirt

The Xanthea t-shirt is a zero waste pattern with a fun and unusual construction. The body hangs on the bias with an X-shaped seam across the front.

Xanthea comes in nineteen sizes, to fit a 86cm/34" bust to a 177cm/70". The fit is loose and slightly boxy.

It's designed for knit fabrics or woven fabrics. Knit fabric options include t-shirt knit, jersey and french terry, and suitable wovens include linen, cotton, tencel, viscose, lawn, chambray and boiled wool.

Included is a long sleeve option which isn't zero waste; it's low waste and designed to leave you with useable rectangular offcuts.

The dress version of Xanthea has a slightly different construction and is equally fine in knits or wovens.
